| ABOUT THE ARTIST
Forward by Chris Radel
Allison Gregory grew up in San Antonio, Texas, and picked up her first paintbrush at the age of 10. When asked what she wanted to do when she was older, she confidently insisted, “an artist”. She continued to draw and paint throughout college, while majoring in art at The University of Redlands. After receiving her BFA, she took her interests a step further by earning a design degree, from Platt College in San Diego, CA. With two degrees under her belt, she moved back to Texas to pursue a career in the art world, living and working in Austin.
Since 2002 Allison has accomplished more than most working artists her age. Her work is ubiquitous, as you might have seen it in any number of places. She has been interviewed on television, her work has been featured in international art magazines, such as RAW Vision, and American Style, and just last week was asked to be profiled for a story in the Austin American Statesman. With dozens of exhibitions to her name, she continues to surprise us with new ventures every year. In 2005, Allison was asked as the first American and woman, to join the international art movement in Europe, TOYISM, making this her first international exhibition, at only 27. The paintings created for the Holland shows were later published on greeting cards, and coffee / art books throughout Europe. Later that year she was selected by UTSA, and The Institute of Texan Cultures in San Antonio, as the official artist for the infamous and highly collected, TEXAS FOLKLIFE FESTIVAL poster. Commissioned by the City of San Antonio, her design now circulates throughout the city on tee shirts, hats, and postcards alike.

In the last two years, things certainly haven’t slowed down. Between various gallery exhibitions, she has stayed busy with a slue of commissions, including Radisson Hotels, and Ruggles Restaurant chain. Her array of vibrant colors, versatility in style, and obsessive attention to detail, make it easy to fall in love with her work. In November of 2006, she was selected out of hundreds of applicants to paint a 10 Ft., fiberglass guitar, that was displayed in the streets of the Austin Design District. Sponsored by Gibson Guitars, and chosen by the Mayor of Austin and Willie Nelson to name a few, her guitar was featured on billboards, phonebooks and has since been published in a book. Her guitar, “A Taste of Texas Tunes” was auctioned off in October of 2007, to benefit local charities. The closing bid at $16,800, was bought by the man who owns Frost Bank.
