Austin GuitarTown Project
Allison
was selected by a panel of public celebrities, including Willie Nelson and
Mayor Will Wynn, as one of the 20 artists to paint a 10ft. guitar. There
were hundreds of applicants in the selection process, so it was quite an
honor to be chosen for such a project.
The Austin GuitarTown project was a public arts project dedicated to
bringing visual and musical artists together, ithrough a unique display of
10ft. Gibson Guitar sculptures, that were placed throughout the city in
November 2006. The project raised $589,000, benefiting four designated
Austin based charities. Allison’s guitar was auctioned off and sold to
Frost Bank at a closing bid of $16,800.

Texas Folklife Festival
The Texas Folklife Festival was modeled after the Smithsonian’s
Folklife Festival, which was held in Washington, D.C. in 1968. In 2006
Allison was commissioned by The City of San Antonio to design the Texas
Folk Life Festival poster. The annual festival is a celebration of
ethnic Texan cultures sponsored by
the University of Texas at
San Antonio,
Institute of Texan Cultures. The artwork selected by panel of
judge’s (below) was the artists’ vision of prominent icons in Texas pop
culture. The guitar , longhorn and
cowboy boot are all
ubiquitous symbols throughout the Lonestar State. Only 250 posters were
printed in limited editions and now those original posters have increased
in value, selling on the website at $60.00. The small number of the
posters that are signed and numbered by Festival artists for the Institute
, have been known to sell to collectors years later for as much as $2000
and up. To purchase one of these prints, go to their website at
